Jef and I just wrapped up an amazing long weekend in our nation’s capital – Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸 It had been over 10 years since we’d seen some of our dear friends, and what better place to meet up than in a city filled with history, good food, and so much to explore.
Day 1: Arrival & A Toast to D.C.

We landed at 10pm at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, bags in hand and excitement high. After checking in, we kicked things off the right way – with cocktails at the iconic Old Ebbitt Grill, a D.C. institution since 1856. Between martinis and old fashioneds, we were already feeling the city’s charm.
Day 2: History Comes Alive

We spent the day touring the landmarks that make D.C. so special – from the solemn beauty of Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to the grandeur of the White House and the buzz of Pennsylvania Avenue. You definitely have to call your congressman at least 3-4 months in advance to request tours of the White House, Capitol and FBI buildings and it’s worth it!

A quick lunch at Ben’s Chili Bowl checked off a must-do food bucket list item 😂👍🏻. Seeing these iconic sites in person made the day even more meaningful.

After our White House tour, we headed to VUE Rooftop for drinks – the view was absolutely incredible, but let’s just say buyer beware… $132 for four drinks 😳😂. Loved the skyline experience though!
The evening only got better – we caught up with friends over a fantastic dinner at Pisco y Nazca on L Street (so good!). From there, the night took a playful turn with karaoke and then a performance of Drunk Shakespeare. Jef surprised us with the King & Queen seats, which made the show even more hilarious. Definitely a fun (and unforgettable) way to wrap up the day! 🎭🍸

Day 3: Why stay in DC when you can take an Amtrak to Philly for a baseball game

How fabulous to be able to sleep in on vacation! Woke up at 8 for a 10am train ride to Philadelphia. After exiting the train station we had one stop in mind, the birthplace of the Philly cheesesteak, Pats! we asked for the best and got their signature cheesesteak with wiz. It was ok to be honest… Next stop Citizens Field! Great stadium and great game! Phillies won and the bell rang 😂!! Got an Uber back to the station and got back around 10pm with time for a nightcap and bed.

Day 4: Until we meet again…
Before heading out, we squeezed in the FBI and Capital tours and a few last strolls through the city stopping at Martin’s Tavern for a drink and chatting about our favorite parts of the trip. Between the historic sights, the vibrant energy, and the joy of reconnecting with old friends, D.C. definitely delivered.

Final Thoughts
Washington, D.C. wasn’t just about the monuments and museums – it was about making memories, raising a glass to friendship, and walking away with stories we’ll be telling for years. We can’t wait for our next stop on this adventure!
